Who we are
VoteVladimir.ca is a website owned and operated by Reznik Legal Services for Vladimir Reznik’s campaign running for paralegal bencher of the Law Society of Ontario in the 2023 bencher election. “We”, “us”, and “our” in the context of these Terms and this Policy refer to the website owner and the campaign team.
We are committed to respecting your privacy and protecting your personal information. This document explains how this website collects, uses, retains, and safeguards personal information, affirms our commitment to collecting and using personal information responsibly, and sets out the website’s terms of use by the public.
Personal information
Personal information is information about an identifiable individual. Personal information includes information, which relates to their personal characteristics (i.e. age, income, contact, and billing information, or information about individual activities and personal interests). Personal information, however, does not include business information (i.e. an individual’s professional affiliation, designation or title, product or service offers, business address, phone number, or website), which is usually not protected by privacy legislation. All personal information will be collected fairly, by lawful means, and for the purposes as specified in this document. We will not use any form of deception or other unfair practices to obtain personal information.
Consent
Submitting your name and email through any electronic form on this website constitutes your express consent to receive future emails from us unless unsubscribed. By using this website and by submitting forms, you give us your consent to collect and store personal information from you for the purposes of contacting you with electronic marketing messages including messages related to this campaign and other services from Reznik Legal Services. The website maintains a record of when and how your information was received. Consent is deemed to be given at the moment of submission of the form containing your personal information.
You may withdraw your consent to receiving electronic marketing messages from us at any time, subject to discontinuation of service related to that consent. Each group email will contain a link to allow the recipient to unsubscribe from the particular newsletter or marketing information service carried out by the newsletter or email.
This website may collect certain personal information without consent where reasonable to do so and where permitted by law.
Sharing forms
We may utilize forms asking you to share information about this website on social media and via email with members of your networks. In the process of using such a form, we may collect and temporarily retain only the name and email address you provide about the recipient of your message for the sole purpose of facilitating your communication. A message from you will be formatted to include a link to this website along with a link for the recipient to consent to receive future electronic communications from us. Aside from facilitating your message through our form, no communication from us will be attempted with the recipient whatsoever unless they consent to it. We will then store the recipient’s name and email in our system for the sole purpose of avoiding duplication and any additional unsolicited communication.
Safeguard of personal information
We do not share individuals’ information with anyone except when lawfully obligated to do so, or when individuals’ prior consent has been obtained to allow sharing of personal information for the specific purpose of such consent.
However, some inadvertent sharing may occur due to the way your browser services communicate with other websites on which you have enabled cookies. If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
We do not rent, share, or exchange visitors’ email addresses or other contact information. Email addresses and other contact information collected upon registration or from comments and direct email contacts are never shared or otherwise used for any marketing information services except with individuals’ prior consent. For the purpose of marketing information services such as the distribution of newsletters or other group emails, email lists will be sent “blind copy”.
Methods of protection and safeguards include but are not limited to, locked filing cabinets, restricted access to offices, need-to-know access, and technological measures including the use of passwords and firewalls. Employees and contractors whose work for us requires having access to personal information are under contractual obligations with regard to the safekeeping of such information.
Aggregate not personally identifiable information
When you visit this website as a guest, our servers automatically collect limited amounts of standard information for traffic monitoring and statistical purposes. No personal information is collected on guest visits and individuals cannot be identified.
The website may also gather and store information collected through cookies, log files, clear gifs, and/or third parties to create an aggregate profile of visitors to the website. We may partner with other third parties to provide specific services, such as search engine optimization and marketing. For these purposes, we share certain demographic information. Third parties are not allowed to use personally identifiable information. We reserve the right to share with our partners and advertisers any aggregated demographic information and any other information that is not linked to personally identifiable information.
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Cookies
A cookie is a piece of data stored on a user’s computer tied to information about the user. As with most websites on the Internet, we may use session ID cookies. This means, when you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. For the session ID cookie, once users close the browser, the cookie simply terminates. The website does not use cookies to identify specific individuals. Therefore, the usage of a cookie is in no way linked to any personally identifiable information while on the website.
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Log files
As with most websites on the Internet, the website may use log files. This includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and the number of clicks to analyze trends administer the site, track movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses may be tied to personally identifiable information to enable our web-based service and to provide security.
Clear gifs (Web Beacons/Web Bugs)
As with most websites on the Internet, the Website may employ a software technology called clear gifs (sometimes referred to as Web Beacons/Web Bugs) that help us to better manage content on the website by informing it what content is effective. Clear gifs are tiny graphics with a unique identifier, similar in function to cookies, and are used to track the online movements of users. The main difference between the two is that clear gifs are invisible on the page and are much smaller, about the size of the period at the end of this sentence. Clear gifs may or may not be tied to users’ personally identifiable information.
In addition, as with most websites on the Internet, the Website may also use clear gifs in its HTML-based emails to let it know which emails have been opened by the recipients. This allows us to gauge the effectiveness of certain communications and the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns. The emails will contain appropriate opt-out (unsubscribe) links.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Changes to these Terms and this Privacy Policy
We reserve the right to amend or change this Privacy Policy at any time at our sole discretion. It is the user’s responsibility to check this document for updates by clicking on the Terms & Privacy Policy link in the footer of the website.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights do you have over your data
If you have an account on this website or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. We will use our best efforts to respond within a reasonable time. However, we reserve our sole and absolute discretion on how and how quickly we respond to your request. We also reserve the right to deny your request. This is to prevent abuse and to preserve data, which we deem necessary to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Other terms of using the website
All contents (information, articles, essays, videos, contents of agreements and related schedules and forms, software, products, features, and related graphics) that are made available to view and/or download at the website are owned by Reznik Legal Services unless stated otherwise and are protected by copyright laws. Access to and use of these contents is governed by these Terms and this Policy. Anyone may freely share pages and posts including articles and videos from this website on the Internet and offline for information and educational purposes.
